First and foremost, come prepared to talk about your business and how connections with other members can be mutually beneficial. Don’t forget to bring your business cards and any other materials that will help you effectively promote your business.

When you attend a chapter meeting as a visitor, remember that the goal is to get to know the chapter personality and its members, not to promote your business. Meetings are high energy and run according to a structured agenda. They last around 90 minutes with time for additional networking before and after each meeting. Be sure to arrive around 15 minutes early, so you don’t miss out on any opportunities for networking and sign in as a visitor.

If you choose to join as a BNI member, you’ll be the only expert in your field. Only one person from each professional speciality is allowed to join a chapter, eliminating the possibility of competition among members. When you join a chapter, you’ll be the sole representative of your field and can develop relationships with others in the chapter as their go-to person for your services.

My experience so far attending BNI Go-Getters

Without sounding too cheesy… I really do enjoy catching up with my chapter on a Tuesday evening. Although I’m still quite fresh to the chapter compared to some of the other members.

They made me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in.

One of the best things is you can see the fire and drive in every one of the members. It’s super motivating.

Every one of them is there not only to grow their little business into the beast they dream of, but to actually help everyone out.

Yes, BNI is about networking.

But, I think there is more to it…

It’s the comradery and the fact you feel like family to each one of them.

Anyways… enough of the cheesy stuff.

To be quite honest, I’m a pretty out there bloke already. Great in front of the camera, very loud and opinionated. But one thing I never realised was how hard it was to stand up in front of a bunch of cool cats and talk about me, my business and my experience.

It was definitely really hard at first, but I have to admit I’m getting much better at it. I can see that every week I stand up and have my 60 sec quick-fire I’ll progressively get better. It’s all about repetition and practice. Nobody is perfect first go. Or even second, third, or fourth.
